Formentera 2-0 Atletico Algorfa. A disappointing display against a rather ordinary team. We need to be more direct in attack and test the positions defence and keeper, while at the same stop the dodgy pointless cross passing at the back which is regularly losing possession to the opposition.
We are at home to Grupo Caliche next weekend.

CF Atlético Algorfa 1-2 Grupo Caliche. A close fought game as the score suggests. For the most part we matched the opposition in effort, possession and skill but eventually could not mount enough sustained pressure to force a draw. A scrappy goalmouth scramble gave the visitors the lead on the half hour up this was equalised by a well worked move and a neat finish by our no 7. The winner came from a speculative long range shot that our keeper saw too late as it passed through a ruck of players. Just a couple of issues for the team to work at; they are too often being caught in possession, and they could use more variation in their attacking build up which is often laborious rather than direct and incisive. A good opportunity to do so next weekend when they are away at bottom club Todo Deporte in Los Montesinos.

Atletico Algorfa's next game away to Montesinos Todo Deporte is on Sunday 24th February, kick off at 12 noon. It's not far and the ground is easy to find. Just turn sharp left as you reach the Town boundary, look for the floodlight pylons and go up the single track road.

Montesinos Todo Deporte 1- 6 Atletico Algorfa. Sounds like a good win but it wasn't a great game to watch. Our captain was sidelined for having had 4 yellow cards but I was pleased to see, however, our no 9 return to lead the attack as he brings an element of experience which is sometimes lacking. Played at Torrevieja because of the resurfacing of the home side's pitch the surface appeared to take some getting used to and although Algorfa had massive possession advantage, play was scrappy. Todo are bottom of the league and could have been expected to lose this game but they did themselves no favours when they lost a player after 20 minutes to a red card after he went berserk and it looked for a time as if he would punch the ref. Things got no better for them when 5 minutes before half time another player received a red card, apparently for what he said to the referee. Miraculously though, it was still 0-0 at half time.
The second half saw some substitutions and it took only 5 minutes for it to make a difference. No 7 in particular made a big difference and from his corner we took the lead. This was soon followed by another but surprisingly on their first serious venture into our half Todo scored. Shortage of players and tiredness then allowed Algorfa to put some good moves together and there were another 4 well worked and well taken goals.
Next week's game is on Saturday at 4p.m against Benijofar. More details later.

Sorry about any confusion over when this weekend's game is to be played. Game against Benijofar tomorrow at 12 looks promising as we won 3-1 when we played them away in November. Here's how the league looks after last week's win. 10th looks like the best we will achieve this season so we need to consolidate that.
