Driving from UK to Spain

Postby PaulG » 17 Jan 2018 16:58

Those who like to make their journey by road through France may like to note that from July 1st.2018 the French government will reduce the maximum permitted speed limit on single carriageway roads from 90kph(56mph) to 80kph or 50mph.Their estimate is that this will save 300 - 400 lives a year. You can guarantee that every speed detection device will be deployed to enforce this.Punishments can be severe financially including car confiscation if caught.Speed cameras are NOT in a bright yellow box at the roadside.Note also that EU governments have access to our DVLA and tickets will be forwarded to your UK address. For unknown reasons our government does not enjoy the same priveledge.
There is a suspicion, also.that this is a precursor to a reduction in the motorway speed limit from 130kph to 110kph in the near future.Time will tell.
