Train Travel Guide in Spain by "The Man in Seat 61"

When you are over in Spain and looking for ways to see other parts of this vast country, or just looking to do something more than the beach or pool
you might consider using the spanish railway service as an alternative.

I was thinking in the summer...

Fly into Madrid, few days there...

Train to? Alicante? Pick up a hire car? Return same, but no days in Madrid?

Any thoughts folks?
